DOCH to SOCH QUESTION?

OK heres my question I have a complete RHD CRX EF8, now the day is approaching to were I have to register the car. Since I dont have some of the paper work needed I have to put in a Stock Si motor in order to get it registered. Now since the wiring was for a B16 motor what do I need to do in order to swap in a Single cam d16. I know i could use pretty much everything from and Si like the mounts axels and so on but what about the wiring, is any different and what about the computer. If anyone could help please reply.thx

dont quote me on this but i think you will need a wire harness and a p28 computer or like an 88-91 integra ls comp. would work.

..if you have an actual sir imported...I think the engine is the least of your worries as far as being able to register it.... but anyway, if it is an sir and has the b16 stock...you're not gonna be able to mount a d16 in there...no one makes a mount kit and the stock mounts are not going to do it...

IF I'M CORRECT.....
There is a law which states that the vehicle has to be 15 years old to be registered. The differences from US cars and imported cars are found in the type of glass, bumpers, and emissions. If this is the problem, it shouldn't be too bad to change to USDM glass from a junker and you could even slap on some bumpers from the junkyard for registration only. The only other thing would be emissions. However, I do believe (keep in mind I live in FL not CA) emissions is tested per model year, not engine type. As long as the engine is from that car or a car newer than...Best of luck and I would like to know the hassles in which you face because I am interested in importing an SiR.

Re: DOCH to SOCH QUESTION?

what type of paper work are you missing?? its going to be pretty difficult to remount a d16 if you already have a b16 in there...

well, keep us updated...

btw, do you have any pics of the car?

marked001 is correct. The SIR has differnt mounts which you would have to cut off and reweld to get a D16 to fit in it.

and redline... the p28 is an OBD1 ECU for the D16Z6. He is trying to put a D16A6 in the car i belive, so he would need a PM6 or PG7 ECU.

but either way, its gonna be a major pain in the ass... why not just strip the SiR and put it on a USDM civic??

he still couldn't use the b16a1 in cali

the best thing i can suggest is to contact the FF Squad they are:
A) in Cali
B) well know to all have JDM cars

they should know best what you can do and how to get away with the rest

OK ill try and answer some of the questions. About the paper work I dont have any of it, hehe making it alomost impossible to register the car legitly. You see when i bout the car the guy I bout it from bout it from some other guy and so on.... I was going to buy a Salvage CRX and swap all the vins. It sounds to easy so I went to my local DMV and asked someone that if I was plannig to but a salvage crx which was in a accident and had the streering wheel moved to the right side. She said it wouldnt be a problem and from what I know there is a couple of guys around here that have done the same. Another thing i heard is the guy from FF squad the one thats a ungly orange color did the same but im not to sure. About puting the engine in I want to be safe i case i do get pulled over and so that i could pass smog until i can save some more and put in a B18C5 but them B*%#S are expensive. So from what you guys tell me is that its going to be hard to put in a stock d16 motor, so ill just smog and register the car i buy and put in a B16 in. Ohh yeah I did mean SOHC and DOHC. About the pic I dont know how to put them in but if i figure it out ill put some pictures of when i first got the car. i hope I got everything if I left anythign out just post a reply.
