Mitsubishi FTO GR
From a friend I got some automotive paints for free. So I wanted to experiment with these paints, and therefore I use a simple and cheap kit.
I found this Mitsubishi FTO GR in my pile: ![]() You don't see them often, and most people don't know anything about this car. I think it is a very cool car. I also have seen about 3 wips of this car so even in modelling world this car is rare ![]() The kit contains a few parts, but they look good. ![]() ![]() The original wheels are awfull so I replace them by some nice Aoshima Gram Lights. ![]() ![]() ![]() I want to make a facelift frontbumper on it, which look like this: original: ![]() facelift: ![]() The color I might use is Matchstick Red Pearl from Volkswagen. ![]() ![]() Kris.

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
Good choice of kit Kris! FTOs are very cool cars, it's a shame we don't get to see more of them. Good luck with this one.

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
I actually think these cars are way cool. I think i like em more than the 3000gt. But we never got them in the states, the body lines are aero and round. I think kaho built one with the bodykit your looking at replicating.
Good luck with it and the color should look good on it. PS I would go with a rear wing, as it looks a little bare. |

Yes I saw Kaho his thread and I use his wip as reference for my project. I'll add a rearspoiler to it, but I'm not sure which one. The original spoiler looks cool, but maybe I have a nice spare one. Kris.

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
If I could have another chance at my FTO project, I would move the 4 round lights a little lower. I used the original spots for the early model lights and it seemed to come out a couple mm too high.
Good luck and have fun with this build, this is a pretty nice kit. =) |

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
Yesterday I started to modify the frontbumper.
First I drilled some holes for the new foglights. I putted some aluminium tubing in it. I don't know if the size is correct, but it looks good enough for me. I also removed the center section from the frontbumper, and I sanded the original frontlip away. The base for the new frontlip was also glued to the bumper, but today I removed it for one with a better look. ![]() ![]() ![]() Because I removed the center of the bumper, I also removed the original mounting for the chassis. So i made a new one from tubing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Today I added some Milliput Grey on it and now I have to wait till it's full hard. ![]() ![]() Kris.

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
I love two part epoxy, great stuff miliput. Thats one thing i hate about fujimi kits, sometimes im afraid to cut out the grills and make them better due to the mounting points behind them. Looks good though, now the frustrating part sanding. Good luck.

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
I personally think the lip sticks out a bit to far, but it will likely not look so exaggerated if you do a crazy body kit along with the front lip.
The red you have chosen is BEAUTIFUL! I have a friend that works with me with that color on a new Rabbit (golf)

Re: Mitsubishi FTO GR
Today I sanded the body and also did a attempt to sand the moldlines.
I have to fill up a few small faults in the bumper and at the photos i see I must sand a few moldlines again ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kris.
