Forgive me the purists, but I liked this car a lot. To me that is the hot rod essence. To take one part here, put another over there and… Voilà! You got a custom ride!
Ferrambo
1960 Rambler Wagon, chassi made by Art Morrison, Ferrari´s 3.6 V8 engine, front and rear suspension. All parts from a crashed 360 Modena.

Purists or not, the fact is: this ride represents an outstanding building!





And there it is!!
Base kit: ‘53 Ford Wagon from R&R resin


At first, I did not have in mind to make the model 100% equal to the original Ferrambo. Insomuch, I gave the fenders a square look and was intended to use this wheels set.


But, as we used to say: “Once in hell, give daemon a hug”! So, I asked myself: why not???
So, I decided to build “THE” Ferrambo. I’ll try to do my best to make it happens.

Side panel that was sanding away!


The body without originals pillars / new ones in place (correct angle)



The original rear with rounded tail lights / new rear panel made with heated styrene / new egg-shaped tail lights made with Tamiya´s putty and some Dremel working on it.





The front panel has received a 2mm styrene piece. The original ’53 Ford hood is too peaked and was smoothed. Also, another piece of styrene was glued to make the rounded edge fabrication possible.





Still there is a lot of body work to do.
So far, the body is waiting for the new fender lines.

I love this thing... I also love the fact that you are completely butchering/recreating a resin kit! I have never seen a resin kit modified to this degree.

wow! that thing looks awesome. the front end looks very vintage ferrari. i wonder how much air the engine takes in since there are no scoops on the side. i see the air intake pipe connecting in to the fender but still...

To be honest, when I saw 'Ferrambo', I was thinking Ferrari/Lamborghini, but this is way cooler! This resin kit has no idea what it's about to go through.

Hi bros!

First of all, I would like to thank you guys for the positive feedback.
In this phase, the progress is slower if compared to the other steps (painting, detailing, etc) just because cut and weld new parts need to be 100% well scheduled and executed.

I’m sorry for such few photos in this updating, but I wouldn’t like to leave this thread without updates for a long time after so much prestige.

So, let´s go!

The new fender shapes was done!


The “C” pillars must be larger. It still need do cut and give the correct form. Also, the new spot line will be make and the top of the door as well. See this reference to quickly understanding of what I’m trying to do…



And to give the “fat” rounded edge, I used two pieces with different sizes so I can make de fade effect in the door.



Hum... new pieces to make new body shapes...


“Whatta hell???” Am I building a “Xuning?”

It looks like the new kit from Veilside.

The Ferrambo on the other hand is looking really cool. There won't be much left of the original car when you're done.

A little progress...

I sanded the external rim, stripped the chrome plating and eliminated the holes and screws. In the next steps I will make the knock-off

Construction of the spotlight with aluminum pipe which will receive a better finishing later…


Now, the front work. After find the center, I defined the limits of the grille. I made this work using a tape as guide before definitively demarcating. This make possible to restart the lines if anything goes wrong at the first time. Then, just draw a line with a pencil or pen.





The car had its front inspired by the Ferrari 250 GTE



And after so much putty and sanding work, it is time to get a first primer coat to see how bad the building is doing. Still have so much work to do...

Ah yes, the first primer. It can either show you're on the right track, or if you've derailed.

It looks really great, I think it's safe to say you've got this under control.
