Seat Belts in my Civic!

Hi,

I just bought a 1990 Honda Civic LX 4 door and I have a problem with the seat belt indicator light. It keeps beeping and flashing over and over even with both seat belts locked in.
I need to know a way to somehow disable that indicator light. Do you know if there is a fuse box or wire to disconnect untill I could figure out the problem. The sounds and flashing light really make driving it very annoying.

Thanks,
Owen

Honda seat beltsare covered under life time warranty, take it to a dealer and have the check it out, just ask if its warranty first....

Just remove the bulb from the gauge cluster.

are the seatbelts not working? If one or both aren't working, check the fuses on the positive post of the battery, those fuses are for the automatic seatbelts

Heres what it MIGHT be.
If you unbolt your seats, there is a plug connected to the bottom of the seat, the ones that go to your dash and make the little light blink and all that. It might be unplugged or cut off or maybe even ripped off. So just unbolt , or maybe u can just stick your hand under the back of the seat to try and see if they are plugged in together. Hope this helps !

nonononono, it may not even have anything to do with the seatbelt. remember that on this car the seatbelt light also functions as an old school warning light. kinda like a check engine light for the rest of your car. if you have no taillights, or something along those lines, the light will blink on and off and make lots of noise. check all of your fuses and all of your lightbulbs before you start messing with the seatbelt sensors. its just like when you leave your hatch slightly open, or either door, and the door light makes noise and comes on.

might be, i got same car, and thats just what happened w/me. I took everything except front dash out of my car , carpet, seats, door panels.. everything,, with the front seats out, theres the lil wires that connected to it, but they werent connected no more, and thats the only thing that ever made my seat belt thing flash.. even if my motor was draggin on the road

Gauge Removal

Hi,

Is it possible like someone suggested to just remove my gauge cluster and take out the bulb to the seatbelt?
I know it would stop the blinking but would ut stop the beeping?

Thanks,
owen

if you have checked the seatbelt plugs, and it still doesnt stop making the noise and flashing, then you seriously needa check your brake light fuse. its the yellow fuse in the engine bay fuse box. trust me, cause i got my car with a uhaul tow package already on it, and the idiots hooked up the trailer wires very poorly, and occasionally they would ground out the brake lights and blow the fuse, then it would start beeping and the seatbelt light would flash. theres reasons behind all the flashing stuff on your dashboard other than annoying you. its there to annoy you into checking the things that went wrong. i wouldnt just unplug shit like a redneck whenever things start making noise
