2001 GTP Power Steering Pump Whining

OK so I took my car to a local shop a couple weeks ago to have them inspect why my car was overheating. After having my car there for over 5 hours the guy tells me that he couldn't figure it out. My brother and I jumped on this forum and within a couple of hours with the help of you guys we decided that it had to be the radiator. My brother and I replaced the radiator and tada....my problem was fixed.

Anyway when I went to pick the car up from that shop where the guy told me that he couldnt figure out why my car was overheating he tells me that my rack and pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced which surprised me a bit since I never really seen any kind of leak. When I woke up the next morning I see that my power steering fluid is all over the ground. Immediately I'm thinking sabatoge...I called my brother and told him that I think this dude must have done something to my rack and pinion. We get under the car and find its not the rack at all... my power steering pump is broken. Then I'm thinking sabatoge and conspiracy! Dude must have broken my power steering pump then told me it was my rack so he could charge me more money hoping that I didn't know my way around a car and wouldn't check it out. HA!

This brings me to why I'm posting. I replaced the power steering pump and filled it with a bottle of Lucas power steering and I can't get it to stop whining. It has gotten better BUT it's been almost a week and still makes noise like I'm low on fluid but I know it's full because it shows that it's full on the cap. HELP!

What brand power steering pump was used as the replacement?

Did you make sure all air is out of the system? The link below posted at our Tips & Maintenance subforum has the refill and bleeding procedure.

Thumbs up Re: 2001 GTP Power Steering Pump Whining

Ahhhhh. I thought that there had to be a way to bleed the system but didn't have a clue how. Followed the write up and she now is quiet as a kitten! Thanks man you rock.
