temp sending unit?

i have an 88 civic hatch and the temp gague is way off , it sais it is way hot as soon as i turn on the car adn i even changer the temp sending unit and it does the same and if i unhook the wire it drops all the way down like normal so im stump'd , any hep would be nice

Well your last resort can be to take it to a dealer and they can tell whats wrong and fix it or they can tell you whats wrong and u can fix it.

how far does it drop, like off the guage? if not then the temperature sending unit is prolly bad, try changing that and you should be fine.
