Re: Lambo Door kit?

no.

What most people tend to do is look at how a die-cast car does it and look to replicate it in plastic for their use on whatever car they're building. I recall someone who looked at how a real car does it and copied the hinges (as it were) in plastic.

Re: Lambo Door kit?

I believe that there is a 'how to do lambo doors' in the 'how to section'

Re: Lambo Door kit?

Small brass rod, vinyl pipe and brass pipe are all you need. You just bend a short rod into an L shaped part, and insert it into a short section of pipes.

Try some nearby train model stores. They tend to carry more raw materials than general hobby stores. You might be able to find a micro hinge that you can use right away.

Re: Lambo Door kit?

Not to be pessimistic, but may I burst your bubble here?

There is no good way to do hinged 'lambo doors'. I will say it again- there is no good way to do lambo doors (or hinged doors of any other style).

It is eight times harder than you think it is. Cutting doors open on a kit body is very easy- deceptively easy. Hinging the doors so that they open/close is very difficult. Finishing a kit with this modification is even harder. Making it look good is really really freaking hard. If you are not ready to write tutorials yourself on how to do it, you are probably not ready to do it yourself.

If hinged doors are important to you, you might really consider buying diecast models. Otherwise, you are free to cut the doors open on whatever kit you're planning. But be warned- if you do, in all likelihood you will never finish it.

Have fun.
