are the 6x9s and the 4inch speakers in the rear supposed to be tied together?

i have a 98 GTP and i recently had a system in it and took it out to put back to stock, my rear 6x9s had seperate wires going to them but wont work unless i tie them together with the wires for the 4inch speaker, anybody know why it wont work with the wires its supposed to be hooked up to?

you must have the Bose system. On that system, the 6x9 is bass only (like a small subwoofer), and the 4" is the mids and highs. Unless you want to bypass the factory amp and rewire the rear speakers, both speakers must be wired factory style.

In that case

No, each speaker should have its own seperate channel.

Be sure to check that the fader isnt faded all the way to the front on the radio.

Then I would plug in a different radio (stock one) and see if that works.

If you have/had the stock 6x9's and 4" speakers in the back, yes you do (or did) have the Bose (or Monsoon). That's the only way to get that speaker package.
