Under hood engine cover

Hi

I find that my engine gets really hot and wondering if it would help by taking off the cloth padding that's hooked up under the hood. Would it help to dissipate the heat?

Thanks

Re: Under hood engine cover

Nope.

Better to solve the cause of the overheating.

Re: Under hood engine cover

That cloth is there to protect your hood from the engine heat. If you remove it it will lead to oxidized/faded paint and eventually rust.
Finding the reason your car is overheating is the best option. The thermostat, radiator, and cooling fan are all easy to remove and replace and a good place to start your search.

Good luck

Thanks for the explanation, i well not remove the cloth. It seems that everything is in working order. When i get home after work, i check the engine and its like a oven in there, i can't even touch the engine its that hot, maybe this is normal. The drive is usually 40-45 mins.
