Holy Cow! You've done a great job on your ride. It's a beautiful car and I don't see hardly any 2 dr. coupes anymore. I can see now why you want to keep it in spite of all the trouble you have had. I have some blue led lights for under the dash projecting onto the floor. I haven't put them in yet. I'm wondering, how did you fasten them down? Tape? Did you wire them into the fuse box or did you use another hot wire? Did you put a switch on them or are they on all the time? Thanks for the pic's. They're great.

Hi thanks man..alot of worring and hard work went into this thing lols. I just plug the LEDS into the cig lighter and ran the extra wiring inside the dash. I also used velco stickers to stick them on. The pessenger side LED is stuck on to the black blower case..

That's a nice looking car; very tidy inside and out. You've made a good job of the interior. Our standard Escort instrument illumination is green but a lot of owners here change from green to blue, and convert to LEDs instead of filament lamps. They also fit those blue illumination things down in the footwells. I don't bother with all that stuff myself; so long as it starts when I turn the key and stops when I press the brake pedal then that's enough to keep me happy. What are those two raised things on top of the hood, at the front, where the hood's gloss paint meets what looks like black vinyl?

Too bad about the rust at the left rear wheel arch eh. I have rust in exactly the same place which I've been ignoring for too long - I should really try to deal with it this summer. Here's a link which I bookmarked ages ago from one of the UK Escort forums. I'll probably follow that guide when I repair mine, although I'll read up some more on how to treat the bare metal first because if that stage isn't done correctly then the rust will just bubble straight back through again. Judging by the photos though, that wheel arch repair is an excellent result for a youngster doing the job for the first time, just working on his driveway.

Our Escorts are completely different vehicles to yours by the way - different body styles, different engines, different electrical systems, so hardly any of the information on that site would apply directly to your vehicle.

Hey thanks man..I think your looking at the lebra leather cover for the front of the car. Those 2 stands are supposed to repell stones from hitting your windshild, but i have plenty cracks in my window that says other wise lol.
The rust is worse then it looks in the picture. On the buttom of the drivers door I can actually put my finger through the door to the interior and the arch is un-fixable unless i replace that whole panel.
I wish the previous owners treated it half decent, then i wouldnt be having these problems., but its a good learning experince.

The UK version of the escorts look very nice also. The american versions seems to be stretched out more, which is good for room.

Are you going to be using the rubber hangers again? I need to buy two of them. I threw them away when I bought a muffler. Now I'm going back to OEM muffler and I need them now.

I have seen very similar muffler hangers in auto parts places - in the bubble wrap packages lining the aisles, and bought a couple of them for my 87 Omni. They are a slightly different shape however. The places may have the exact OEM style on a shelf.
Also, they sell them at www.rockauto.com. You select the make, year, model, and look in the 'exhaust' heading for "exhaust system hanger".

One of the nice things about buying 'online' from rockauto, is having the UPS or Fedex guy walk down the driveway and hand me the part I need while I am working on the car itself.

There are a huge variety of them being sold on ebay, but I loath paypal (which ebay promotes forcefully), and some sellers wont take a postal money order instead; or arent in a position to accept payment via credit card.
