Remove head bolt from cylinder head? SEE PIC
I'm replacing head gaskets and LIM gaskets. 2001 GTP 3800 sprchgd. I have both heads off, but how do you remove the one head bolt from the head, because the manifold stud is in the way?? SEE PIC. I have torque specs, but what is the correct sequence of putting head bolts back on? thanks!!!

Re: How to remove head bolt from cylinder head?
Remove the stud from the head. You can do this very easily by double nutting the stud and turning it out. As for the torque sequence it is: 6 1 3 7
8 4 2 5 Don't forget to use new head bolts due to them being torque to yield and make sure you put sealer on the threads. |

Re: How to remove head bolt from cylinder head?
ahhhh, I should have thought of that when I was trying to get the head off in the first place! Would have saved some heartache. thanks!
I have new head bolts and threadlock. The torque specs I have is 37 ft./lbs plus 120 degrees. Is that correct? And then 11 ft./lbs for the LIM?

Re: How to remove head bolt from cylinder head?
Well I managed to get the manifold stud out of one of the heads, but on the 2nd one, the stud snapped off in the cylinder head.
I'll probably just take it to a machine shop down the road to have it drilled out rather than try it myself. I don't have an angle meter to torque the head bolts, so hopefully I'll be ok just eyeing the degrees of turn. ?? Here's a pic of the honing grooves in the cylinder wall. Decent for 135k miles??
