Lightbulb Canadian to American seat belts....

I have a Canadian model Civic the one with the seatbelts on the door and the seatbelts are dying (not moving anymore). How do I convert to the US style belts that are attached to the frame and not the door? Parts etc.... Thanks.

Well i think all you would need are the diff panels. At first I was thinking that the seat belts for the back seat were lacking the shoulder strap and was thinking of a way to make that work, but then i remembered, they did have the shoulder strap. So the thinking didn't last long

You could swap out the doors, but then again I doubt you have a reinforced hole on the pilar for the belts to bolt up to.

well you got a point there, Ill have to look at it tomorrow or sometime when there is light outside

edit: hold up, what reinforced hole? c'mon man, our seatbelts in the door are just attached to the top and bolted in on the bottom.

On the pillar is a threaded hole where the belt assembly bolt onto the car. You better believe a seat belt mounting point has a lot thicker metal around it then the good old paper thin Honda body metal.

Exactly, I don't think Canada or Japan mattered at all. However I think the actual models made for Canada had only pillar mounted from all 88-91, not meaning the USDM bound Canadian mades didn't have both. I think that is what is confusing some people.

On all of the civics in the UK the seatbelts are on the Roof pillar, Until i came on the forum i didnt even know they existed on the doors LOL

I think they do look a bit gay on the doors to be fair
