Changing Ball Joints 97 GTP
I am about to change the ball joints in my 97 Grand Prix GTP and am curious as to how difficult this job will be? I will be renting the ball joint seperator to do the job, are there any other special tools required? I have made many repairs on various vehicles but have never changed a ball joint.

Re: Changing Ball Joints 97 GTP
You have to pop out the old rivets that hold the ball joint to the lower control arm or you can drill them out with the right sized drill bit. The new ball joint will have screws/bolts and nuts to secure it to the control arm.

Re: Changing Ball Joints 97 GTP
You should also check the control arm bushings since you are doing the ball joint. And maybe even change them.

Re: Changing Ball Joints 97 GTP
Thanks for the help guys! Weather hasn't been co-operating here for the past couple days so I will be making this repair tomorrow.
I have browsed around this site a few time now very glad I registered. |
