Removing/Installing Rear Bumper Cover

Hey all,

I just bought a used rear bumper cover(amazing condition) from a 1998 GP GT, I have a 2001 GT. My rear bumper cover has a crack in the lower gray part and paint problems on the topside.

I was just wondering what all is holding the bumper cover on. If anyone has info/link. Possibly a step-by-step instruction somewhere would be nice.

Thanks in advance,

3.8SuperPacer

Re: Removing/Installing Rear Bumper Cover

I see you have or had a 98 Daytona Pace Car. I've got#532/1500. Some douche put me into a guardrail in it scarring up both sides. I need to find out how or where to go to get the bluebook value. So far, everywhere I've looked(kelly/Edmunds/ADAP) as far as getting the car appraised doesnt include Daytona Pace car as an option. Obviously this adds to the value and I need documentation to prove to the insurance company that this is not just any GTP as far as bluebook value goes. Have you ever tried to look up your value. Any ideas???

Re: Removing/Installing Rear Bumper Cover

remove your tailights from the 3 plastic nuts inside the trunk. then there are two bolts, one on each side of the car, inside the rear fender where the bumper meets the body. im not sure of the size. remove those. then there are two nuts on the inside of the trunk, one on each side of course, near where the tailights are mounted. they have a rubber seal on them that you may want to replace when you re-install them. next there are some bolts and plastic body clips on the top of the bumper where the trunk closes. remove the clips by pulling out the center pin, and then the rest of the clip. remove the bolts. lastly (if i remembered everything), there are 3 clips OR bolts (i dont remember which) that hold brackets on the bottom of the bumper to the structural bumper underneath the car. just get underneath and you should see them. overall its pretty simple, just be careful that when you remove anything the bumper doesnt swing and scratch the body of you car. so that they do not scratch the body anywhere. goodluck, and if any of this is wrong or confuses you please do ask for clarification

Your advice looks good but rather late since this thread goes back over one year.

To the second poster gdaddy3 as I advised you in another thread send your question via private message or email instead of raising old threads or going off topic. Regardless high probability you will not get a reply so good luck.
