Re: Horsepower

Start with a header and follow with an ebay 'cat-back' system 1st. then, get a high flow intake. afterwards, get an engine grounding kit and start upgrading the fuel delivery system(intake manifold, injectors, high-flow fuel pump & filter. That will open your system up enough to give the power gains you are looking for and if you want more (ie: ported throttle body, internals, turbo and/or tune, etc.) then you will have the base to start on stage 2. don't forget brakes! you can't go fast without being able to stop. need more info? I am currently in a build of my cuzin's 94 LX 1.9.

Re: Horsepower

Try dropping an LS2 in it.

Really... it's a Ford Escort... not amount of tweaking is going to make that big a dif. My advise would be to get a sports car to start with, then tweak that!

find a same year escort gt that has a 1.8L DOHC and swap it in. it fits right in and bolts right up to your tranny. There are ALOT more aftermarket parts for that engine dur to the model's trim level "GT". Plus that motor makes way more HP compared to the 1.9L SOHC.

...an LS2 would be hilarious, good luck fitting that thing...

a better suggestion is to chrome it all up and sell it to buy a better car..

LOOK AT CARDOMAIN.COM AND CHECK OUT OTHER'S ESCORTS AND WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO THEM.

Re: Horsepower

Get a resistor chip on ebay. It is only a few bucks and plugs into the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor. It makes the computer think that your are taking in colder air and the computer runs a richer mixture and advances the timing. It's worth 5 maybe 10 more horsepower. Get the cheap one, not the expensive one. The more expensive one is the same thing, except it's in a box that looks like more, but isn't.

Yea i been thinking about those chips but, would it effect the emissions testing and would it effect the longevity of the car?
