have been digging and found that all the heads are interchangable, all that is needed to make the PI head swap is the intake manifold from a newer year that fit the PI ports

the swap is complete on the 98 Gt 4.6..used the 03 heads, a 99 intake,99 coolant tube( the one that goes down the center of the block)
also needed a new dipstck tube due to damage on removal, fyi if anyone is going to do this swap your compression will be raised to 10.3.1(regular unleaded is no longer an option due to the raised compression low rpm pinging under load was noticed, premium works fine) After completion the idle was a bit irratic. We solved that problem by having a dialbo chip programmed for this set up..on the dyno this car went from 212rwhp to 265rwhp, not bad a all if you want to keep your car naturally aspirated.. Total cost on my part for parts and gaskets needed was less than $1000, $950 actually.:sun: |

The 99+ heads have a 44.75cc combustion chamber. The 96-98 Gt's have a 10.5cc dish while the 99+GT's have a 18.5cc dish.
44.75+10.50 = 55.25cc. The total volume of the cylinder is 574.46cc + 55.25cc. Therefore, the compression ratio (excluding the head gaskets) will be 10.4:1, assuming the heads are dead on. Unfortunately, the 44.75cc rating is +1.5/-1.5cc. In other words, the true compression ratio could vary from 10.1:1, to 10.7:1. In other words, I'd recommend having the heads cc'd.

pi head swap
About the head swap. I am performing as we speak and am having trouble with the oil dipstick tube. Does ANYONE know how to get the tube back in the block without tearing it apart. If you do thanks.
