Hey Guys!!! I'm new at this whole fourms thing It's helped me in the past with reading others posting but now i'm posting and i need some help.
I have a 2001 GrandPrix GT 3.8 it has about 124,000 miles on it and running stong.(Yes I work on my own Vehicle) The only problem I'm having with it is the heater control switch.... i think. Now i've been researching and asking around what the problem cound be and I'v been told that it could possibly be the resistor that is going bad,or the blower motor. Now controls 1-3 do not work, which from my understanding 1-3 work off of the resistor. and the ones that do work which are 4 & 5 work off the 12 volt battery. Now my question is before I state pulling things out and replacing them, can someone please explain to me what the problem might be and how to fix it. And to how to get to the resistor...... Thank you very much Hope to hear from someone. Jessica |

Re: Blower motor resistor?
Welcome to AF.
The info is incorrect. Only position 5 (hi-speed) works directly off battery 12 volt supply. 1-4 all work via the blower motor resistor. Your issue sounds like a bad blower motor resistor. It is not the blower motor based on your symptoms. Just pull the blower motor. 3 5.5mm small bolts, electrical connector, then undo the 3 resistor assembly screws. The 2 in the back just need to be loosened since the screw holes are slotted.
