How can i make supercharger for 4hp-100cc-2stroke-engine?got a idea please give sugg.
I took an engine out of a snow blower (a 100cc-4hp-2 stroke) and was planning on hooking a leaf blower turbine/fan up to the carburetor. I plan on taking a 200/300 watt electric motor with a speed controller (HOOKED UP TO TWO 12VOLT 12Ah RECHARGEABLE SCOOTER BATTERIES) and connecting it with a 60 tooth pulley attached to the electric motor and a 12 tooth pulley from the turbine...
Do you think it will work? Any thoughts or suggestions? Last edited by asnipit; 03-14-2009 at 12:59 PM. Reason: electric motor will be powered by 2 12 volt scooter batteries |

In general you'll get no help when you're talking about electric superchargers. First of all, the snow blower's electrical system is just a capacitive discharge setup. It makes enough to fire a spark plug, but it doesn't really make any electricity like an alternator. Even if it did, it takes energy to make energy, so the amount of electricity that the engine made wouldn't be returned as an equal amount of energy from the turbine. You would have a net loss. It would take more than 4 hp to generate enough electricity to make back 4 extra hp with the blower.
Stick a pulley on the flywheel of that 2 stroke and a pulley on the turbine. Now you'll be able to make more power.... but only a tiny bit. Leaf blowers make very little pressure. They make a ton of flow, but they only make tiny pressure differentials. Pressure is what makes extra power. Then even if you do get more pressure, you'll have to totally revamp the fuel system. Carburetors work on the prinicple of pressure drops through a venturi. If you pressurize a carb, it doesn't work unless you heavily modify it. Those little tiny 2-stroke carbs don't really have an aftermarket following, so you're looking at a crap-load of trail and error. You'll have to install a fuel pump with an adjustable (boost referenced) fuel pressure regulator so that the pressure from the blower doesn't push fuel backwards.... The list can continue for a long time. The short story is... do a search for electric supercharger before you post on this again. They don't work.

So since superchargers don't work much on 2 stroke engines because the exhaust ports are open at the same time as the intake ports are, is it possible to build pressure in the cylinder using a supercharger?
