Looking for a new car

(The title I think should have been "Looking for a new used car" lol)

Hey everyone. About 2 years ago, I got my first car, the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse, GSX, manual, and lots of other neat things under the hood. The guy I bought it from was the original owner and trustworthy too.
After losing it (some jerk ran a red light, rammed into me, and totaled it), I've been trying to find a used GSX, but cant find anything reasonable or trustworthy, or something that is unmolested.

I'm giving up.

Since I'm a full time college student and I don't work during the semester, it is going to take me this summer and next summer to earn up to 10-11 grand. So right now, my budget is $11k and I have the following options to consider as a car for me to buy before the end of 2010.
The two cars I'm considering are:

1) 2002-2004 RSX Type S
2) 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX

I need help deciding which one to get

-I've heard that the TypeS has lower and cheaper maintenance than the WRX
-I was originally going for the WRX, but when I saw the Type-S, it looked like my Eclipse (hatchback, which I'm a big fan of) and bigger trunk space and interior,
-A downside for the RSX is that people tell me that its a chick car.
-By 2010 summer, I can get a 2002-2004 Type S with ~80k miles for around $10k. A 2004 WRX I think is more expensive (12k+?).
-Going from an Eclipse GSX to RSX, I will miss the AWD and the turbo, which are both present in the 2004 Wrx.
-the WRX is safer (and funner) in the snow, but I'm in NJ so it only snows or the road freezes during a few months during the year
-I like the back seats in the WRX :P

I know I have 1. 5 years to go, but I kinda have my head in this too much. I'm torn b/w the two.
Any more advice and pointers will help.
Thanks!

Re: Looking for a new car

The RSX is a definite step down in terms of performance from the GSX.

Re: Looking for a new car

This is a complete Service and Maintainance information manual in PDF format for 2002 to 2004 ACURA RSX & TYPE S Cars. This service manual is very detailed and contains 1,495 pages. This manual is also key word searchable for quick access to the information you need and very simple to use. . All Manuals will be provided to you in 100 clear & crisp PDF format. Manual is divided in 23 sections.

That's what most people would say if you told them, "Hey, the WRX is really a great car!"
The reason it's old news is that the automotive press has been singing the praises of the Subaru Impreza WRX for nearly three years running. Ever since Subaru took a 2.0-liter, horizontally opposed engine and then reworked its plumbing for 227 hp (turbocharging forces way more air through its veins than would be the case with a naturally aspirated car), we dirty-fingernailed scribes have been drooling and kneeling at the altar of the little Subie that can.
