Exhaust Rattle from below?

I was out for a cruise earlier today and I noticed that something from under the car began to rattle. It felt like it was coming from right below the center console and armrest of my 97 GTP. I am gonna take a peak under the car tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this before. The exhaust is stock except for a 3" ZZP downpipe.

Re: Exhaust Rattle from below?

Check the converter and the heat shields for it. They are the most common causes of rattles from where you describe.

Re: Exhaust Rattle from below?

It is a common problem when using big downpipes versus stock and even headers. Does the ZZP 3" DP have a woven flex joint?

Yeah the ZZP downpipe has a woven flex joint. If it turns out to be the heat shield are there any tips on how to fasten it?

Re: Exhaust Rattle from below?

My GTP was making the same rattle. Mainly on initial startup and idle. It was SO annoying. Turned out the be the resonator heat shield. The exhaust quy just tack welded it right back in place. (we'll see how long it lasts)
