Question Tamiya F2002?

Hi all,

What do you reckon of the chances that Tamiya will produce last years Ferrari F2002 as the next in their 1/20th F1 series?

I know the chances of anything this year is unlikely as they seem to have used up their design budget on the Enzo. But with the Ferrari licence, I'm sure they'll want to make full use of it. After all it was an expensive licence ageement!!

In the latest copy of Tamiya Model Magazine Int. there was word from the Nuremberg Toy/Model Fair that Revell (Germany) are likely to produce the F2002 in 1/12th. Great if true, I'll put my order in now!

Thay said they aren't going to, however Revell Germany are about to release their F2002 in 1/12 scale. A few people have seen and say it looks pretty good.

I saw a side view of it. Not bad! I felt the tyres were a little wide, but it was probably a test mock-up of the kit. Judging by the Toyota TF102 1/24th it, I have higher hopes for the 1/12 Ferrari. Any ideas of a potential release date?

According to Revell Germany web site, it's to release in August. Here are some pics made by a guy in Germany at the toy show.

That doesn't look too bad. For the first time I really want a Revell!

I doubt Tamiya will do a 1/20th Williams anytime soon. What was the last Williams, must've been the FW14B in 1/12th.

I would certainly appreciate more modern F1 kits though. The current 2003 BAR is quite striking, I feel. I would have to resort to Studio 27. Don't get me wrong, they are nice kits, but very very expensive. It's like a couple of months kit budget on 1 kit, and it doesn't even have engine detail:cry:

I have seen both Toyota and Williams from last year (or is it two years ago ?) in the store, both 1/24th and badged Revell AG. (Germany)

So I doubt Tamiya will release either one of these models.

P.S.; has anybody ever made a revell 1/24 F1 kit?

Yes, Olivier, some of us did build their kits (including me), and the copnsensus is that they suck dead bears through a garden hose hole.

You can search AF for the discussion of these kits

I heard this phrase more than a year ago and it's well and truly stuck in my head ...

I've got some of the Revell F1 kits.

The Jordan, Williams are not that bad, but the tyres are CRAP!

The Ferrari F2001 is the worst.

The Toyota TF102 is the BEST of the bunch, they must've put some money into that one. I recommend it. Probably their best since the Williams FW19 some years back

I made an Indy car by revell, and it wasn't near Tamiya quality..

I totally agree. I’m a great fan of Ferrari but four Ferrari’s F1 in a row is too much.
It’s about time to do something different. I’ll be very happy to build even the Minardi.

Hi all,

Just going back to the 1/12th Ferrari. Got an Email from the Design Dept at Revell AG. The kit should be available in August as somebody has already correctly pointed out. However, they still have to wait for permission from Ferrari, so delays may be possible.
