Re: Check Engine Codes

Usually the book there's a book that comes with the code reader and it should tell you in there. Or you can take it to a mechanic and sometimes they'll do it for free, I wouldn't spend money for them to do that.

P.S. usually when the check engine light is going off it's an 02 sensor. Unless you have an 02 sensor gauge then it's something else lol.

Re: Check Engine Codes

There are numerous references which define trouble codes. Display the codes and post them here, or look on the WWW.

Re: Check Engine Codes

I dont have the diagnostic tool im checking what the code is by using a paper clip and jumping the A and B terminals where you would plug the diagnostic tool into .... and the check engine light flashes accordingly for instance if its a code 23 the light would flash twice pause and then flash three times.. what I would like to know is if anyone has a shop manual for a 99 cavalier and let me know what the code is..... i havent checked to see what the code is yet but i will tomorrow.. and post what the code number is... thanks hope someone is able to help me...

Re: Check Engine Codes

Just got to Advance Auto Parts and use their code scanner for free. Jumping terminals was for the OBDI systems... shit is more complex is OBDII.
