Re: MOTY 2008 Results!!

Congrats guys! To me this is one of the best MOTY, quite nice also speaking of managing: so thanks a lot Andy, Alex and Willimo.

Andy, when possible, let me know addresses where to send 356 sets, thanks.

Re: MOTY 2008 Results!!

I couldn't do it while the voting was going on- but now that it's done I'm going to give my own picks and shout outs. I've been waiting a whole month since I started receiving entries, so here are my favorites.

2. Subaru Legacy GT-B Touring Wagon Hippo Sleek

Nice looking build- I'm very surprised it didn't get any votes! Maybe a larger pic would have helped?

5. 1999 Chevy Silverado trail truck
This one amazed me when I saw it- I really had to verify that it wasn't a pic a pic of a real truck. I completely missed seeing this one this past year, so it was a surprise for me.

14. Porsche 911 GT2 (993)
This one was of course mine. I'm very happy with it, but I couldn't vote for it. Thanks to those who did!

20. 1998 Acura Integra Type R conversion
Great looking pic, the build looks fantastic with the background.

24. 1941 Indian Sport Scout
Verrry cool.

27. Ferrari F40 GTE '96 Monza/LeMans
Fantastic work from Alex. One of those builds that you can loose a lot of time studying. Made me want to build. Two points from me.

32. Ferrari 2003 GA
A very inspiring and compelling pic. I really like the composition. It doesn't really try to pass the model off as 'real', but you feel like you could be looking at full scale components anyway. I've found myself looking through my unbuilt F2001 kit, and thinking of building it- and that's why I love this community! One point from me.

34. TechArt Carrera GT
Breathtaking pic of a terrific build. Again, very easy to forget you're looking at a model.

35. Peugeot 307 WRC Gigi Galli 2006
I'm a Galli fan, and this one made me smile. A good thing to be said about any model.

36. Porsche 993 GT2 Trackday
Great build, fantastic paint job. Again, an entry that I'm very surprised it didn't receive any votes. But having entered a GT2 myself, I couldn't really vote for it.

43. Citroen 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar” (Jean-Paul)
Wow- what more can be said? I'm not a fan of image montages- I think that usually one good single image of a build is much stronger that a composite. But Klutzski really did a superb job with this one- even the truncated images look right somehow. Even more, the build itself is simply spectacular- one of the most fun builds (and threads!) I've ever seen on AF, and it definitely makes me want to build! Three points from me. (Of course, I'm probably not entirely unbiased on this one- the alternator did come from my machine shop! )

So those are the ones that I just had to say something about. There are obviously many great works that I didn't mention here, but these are my own favorites. It seems almost a shame to admire the entries quietly, without commenting on them- so anyone else have some they want to comment on?

The entry thread will of course join the threads from previous years in the meet section!

Re: MOTY 2008 Results!!

Thanks for the comments Andy . I enjoyed building that wagon! There were about 10 builds that really stood out to me but I had to narrow it down. Both of the 993s made me pull my kit out and start fiddling with it but I put it away for now. All in all, a terrific contest!!

Re: MOTY 2008 Results!!

Congratulations again, Alex! A well deserved win.

I loved to be able to participate for AFMOTY and will do the same again next year for sure!

When I was deciding on which models were my favorite, my main criteria was "a model that can be built by everyone with limited budget as long as they have the willingness to go the extra mile, given the limited substance." Therefore, I only chose plastic kits, instead of those wonderful multimedia kit

My Big 3 was:

1. 43. Citroen 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar” (Jean-Paul)
Nothing needs to be said about this one.

2. 37. Ferrari 360 Modena
Flush opened doors (I know I would never have the patience to do similar stuff), wonderful interior, and entertaining WIP, what more could I ask for?.

3. 14. Porsche 911 GT2 (993)
Exactly the type of finish I was trying to achieve with my 993 GT2 Trackday. Simple, clean, and spectacular to say the least.

Thank you for your comments, Andy. I had the most fun building that GT2, I actually started on another one (this is also to fill up the Air-cooled GB ).

yes i totally agreed in this one.
being a hell bent mod modelor, the flush doors' opening is just unbeliveably real & true! IMO this is the one most tricky mods that will trouble me. i may have the patience but i don't know if i have the skill to do it!?

as such, i'm totally commited into study this opening & vote this idea my best discovery since joining AF!
therefore i'll be contributing 2 kits for the overall winner (master alex) & mrawl...my own winner, hands down!

great job fellas!
