at minimum, the cheapest way you cn hook it up is with a direct toggle switch. this will cost you about $.05 but it sucks. The best cheap way is to get an MSD (or similar) rpm activated switch. they retail for 50.00 or so plus you have to buy the rpm modules.
One of the best ways would be to get a Field SFC-VTEC (or similar) VTEC controller. that way you can adjust the fuel settings as well. |

the vtec controllers require a vtec ecu.

Oh, well how about that. Sorry. Now, I have a question for you then and I'm not being sarcastic or a smartass. Did you just wire up the vtec controller or does it piggyback off the ECU? I have a sohc vtec that I have yet to activate my vtec.

the VTEC controller interrupts the map sensor wire. Pretty much, all you do is hook it straight up. It will control vtec via standalone control. It controls the fuel by intercepting the MAP sensor wire to fool the ECU into thinking the map sensor says it needs more fuel.
You can find a chart telling you how to wire up the Field SFC-VTEC to a pm6 ecu @ http://www.geocities.com/bing_bong916/vtec_cont2.html On a VTEC ECU, it has more wiring that is spliced between the harness and ECU, but on our PM6 ECU's there is only 8 wires to hook up. power ground VSS (speed sensor) (x2) map sensor (x2) ignition output (for digital tach) & vtec selenoid the grip of other wires coming out of the unit aren't use in this case. |
