Exclamation What if Steve Jobs ran GM?

I had heard this earlier today and didnt believe it, then I saw it more on a ZDnet blog. http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=2630&tag=nl.e550

Obviously this would not happen, or could it..

Some of the peoples comments are hilarious! These are a few of my favorites;

Quote:
Acceleration and braking would be handled with a single pedal.

Steering would be done via touchscreen.

You could only use Apple brand gasoline from Apple brand gas stations.

I mean realy, could he do any worse for our economy ?!

Re: What if Steve Jobs ran GM?

Yeah, I could see it. Introduce a new model, hype it to no end, charge an arm and a leg for it, then a few months later drop the price significantly. Or the same scenario as above but this time introduce a new model with twice the "features" for a lot less price the following year.
Of course then you'd be talking about a whole new "sub-industry" ( for the lack of a better term) that would be similar to our current aftermarket industry. These companies would make skins for your car to change it's appearance, or a docking station to park and charge your car, "upgrades to improve performance, etc, the list would be endless.

Plus white would be the stock color, anything else would cost extra.
You also might have to wait, in the cold long line(s) to purchase one on its release date. Then after 15 hrs you find out they sold out 8 hrs ago.

Re: What if Steve Jobs ran GM?

No way that would work.

Running a car company is completely different. Steve is really good at marketing a brand of higher end products. It might work for Cadillac, but not the entire company.
