New McLaren Automotive Site

As far as I can tell this is a reasonably new change.
McLaren have completely re-designed their website, and appear to have a huge amount of new (well, compared to what they had hosted on their site before) material including text, specs and images - even some new 56XPGT shots (i think)!
Check it out

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

Looks like they have also used some of the pics from "Mclaren - The Cars 1964-2008"

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

I guess it's all about the magic 100 instead of the not so magic 106.

I didn't find too much new content there. The digital versions of images from the book "McLaren: The Cars" were nice to have.

The "boulevard" shot of XP5, XP1 LM and GTR #20R at the MTC was pretty cool - shame they only offer it with the partial fade as a background image.

This shot of #01R isn't necessarily new, but it's a better version than was was previously available of it in digital form.

Other things I noticed- some good, some bad:

Three shots of GTR #17R (a '96 GTR) appear in the '95 GTR gallery. If you wanted to get technical, GTR #03R (a '95 GTR) appears in the '96 GTR gallery, but at least it appears in '96 trim and livery.

They still call this image "ueno rear" when you can clearly see race number "42" on the door, making it #05R in the Cesar livery, and not #01R.

This shot of XP5 taken at Ehra Lessien was new for me, and again shows that the front plate was a decal and the windscreen wiper was removed for the top speed run.

In this shot, I can distinctly hear Andy Wallace saying "three-hundred and eighty eight..." in the back of my head.

A reversed image of chassis #023 is being used as the background on the Customer Care page.

I think I preferred the previous version of the website a bit more, but this version seems to be a better match to the brand overall. Very McLaren-like now.

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

Anyone an idea how to save the pics from those galleries?

Btw:
I actually wonder why 56XPGT is not seen anywhere in the MTC...
Are the rumors finally true and is has been sold?
I remember a sum of GPB 1 million for it!

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

Click on gallery, right click on the pic you want and choose 'open link in new tab' worked for me. Sometimes you may want to click on the new tab image again to make it bigger too

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

If you hover around the center of each photo with your mouse, the hand icon will change to the arrow icon and then you can right-click and save as normal. Try it a few times and you will figure it out.

56XPGT must not be too far away as they were able to use it for the "McLaren: The Cars" book which was put together recently. You'd think if it were still in McLaren's possession directly that it would make an appearance at the MTC from time to time though, so who knows.

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

I just noticed when you save one of the photos (at least on the '97 GTR page) they include the chassis # in the file name.
Example = 1997%20GTR%20Side

Re: New McLaren Automotive Site

Is there by chance a photoshopmaster around who can mod the side view of XP1LM to LM1?
