1.6 si motor on a dx

Hey all. I have a 90 civic dx hb and got a quote for a used si motor only. Can I just switch my motor with that one, or would I need more mods. Thanks

Scott

You can just switch it nice and easy ... but I know everyone in here is gonna tell you to rewire your setup to MPFI

you can switch the motor, it drops right in. you have a DX which has DPFI you may want to change it MPFI.

Thanks

depends on how good of a mechanic you are ... personally I have no expirence doing swaps, but a lot of d series people I talk to generally get it done in like a day in the driveway.

Okay first off the motor and engine are the same thing. If you don't know where there motor is than you shouldn't swap it, it's cake to swap a D-series for a D-series.

Yes and you do have to change it from Dual Point Fi- to multi point...ther's no way around that your going from two injectors to 4 and there's not that much work in it but by the sounds of it....I don't think you can do it.

if you want I have pics of me building my motor and that's the exact swap that I did...click on the link below and I'm in the Arizona chapter...

you dont have to switch to MPFI, it just recommended. You wont be usuing the full potentional of the stock engine unless you change to MPFI.

The injectors from the si have a different impedance and that's why you have to use the injector resistor box from an Si or convert over to the P26 ECU...unless your talking about using the DX manifold...

....or why in the Hell would you bother changing over to an SI motor only to put two injectors back on it with that Gay DX manifold? you just waisted about 6 hours of work!

More power to you then Brah

well look at it in the non vtec state DX 92 hp and .1L bigger for the si but .1 lower Compression Ratio with 4 injectors....106? You call it.
and with the vtec your gonna get more out of it. I would not do that swap and put 2 injectors on that motor. Hell if that's the case I have a monifold and stuff I can sell you for cheap....it would be sad to see that kind of set up. if your going through all that trouble you might as well do it right.

Thanks for all the info guys. How much would it cost to switch from DX DPFI to SI MPFI? Also, does the intake manifold come with the motor or would I be using the si's manifold?

THanks

Scott
