99 GT won't start

Hello Everyone. I have come so far with my repairs however I am now stuck and need to rely on your help. First thing, roughly four weeks ago while driving to work @ 5am doing 65mph my engine suddenly shut down without stalling. Come to find out that it had hydrolocked on me due to the brilliantly designed plenum. So I ordered a reinforced upper intake plenum, upgraded aluminum LIM gaskets, purged the engine and cleaned out the coolant. Replaced the plugs, changed oil and filter and replaced the battery. I then went to start the engine and enjoy the fruits of my labor however all it does is turn over. Doesn't even try to start. I have a video clip of it turning over however I'm not sure on how to attach it. Back in April, my plenum gave out for the first time in which I took the opportunity to replace the starter, crank positioning sensor, MAF sensor, MAP sensor and plug wires. Is there a sensor on this engine that would prevent it from starting? Is it possible the fuel pump failed while disconnecting the battery?? Could the hydrolock on the freeway have caused some failure somewhere (electrical\fuel)??? Unfortunately guys, I live in a apartment without a garage and by the time I get home it's pitch dark. So my resources are limited and I can only troubleshoot so much. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

BTW, 3800 naturally aspirated with 119,132.

Re: 99 GT won't start

have you checked the plugs to make sure they arnt fouled out from the coolant?

you could check for fuel pressure at the rail if you have access to a fuel pressure tester.

Back to the basics here. Check for spark and fuel. I couldnt think of anything else... You wouldnt have touched the cam or valvetrain on a 3800 for LIM gaskets. Be sure all the plug wires are going to the right spot and that the fuel injector main harness is plugged in.....?

Re: 99 GT won't start

Thanks for the reponses guys. I will have to wait until Thursday and pull the plugs. I wonder if it's possible I flooded the engine with fuel??....I had to prime the engine before I initially started the engine after my repairs were completed. When I pull the plugs and test for spark and it turns out good, do you guys think I should take them all out and try and crank the engine again? Maybe I didn't purge the engine all the way. I smell fuel from somewhere when I try and start it. I will try a few things and try to post pics of the engine for you guys. For some reason, I cannot figure out how to post pics or videos. I take them all with my phone and download them on my desktop. ?????

Re: 99 GT won't start

When an engine hydrolocks, many very bad things can happen, especially when at speed. You could have a broken crank, bent connecting rods, cracked head/blown head gasket etc... which could all lead to a no start situation. The first thing you need to do is check compression. Without good compression, it's not gonna start.

Re: 99 GT won't start

Thanks you guys for your responses. I'm planning on getting the car towed to a friend's friend shop from work next week. Hopefully Monday. He's going to do a compression test on all cylinders as well as a scan. I will have to keep you guys posted on what happens. I'm banking on worst case scenario, anyone know of any cheap used 3800's for sale??!!
