I'd go with the 91. They had mass air flow, the better rims, and when the top is down, it has a lower profile than on older models. Many people say that the vert is slower. I don't believe it because I've beaten every hatchback I've ever raced with around the same amount or more mods as mine (I only have mufflers, a K&N filter and 9mm wires). Plus, you can't beat cruising with the top down

honestly, after 69 you gotta question what they did with the mustang... if it was me i would get a 60's mustang (wich arn't that expensive) you could probably pick a good one up for around 5-9k

but if you must get one of thoughs i would go for the 87 with the t-tops, by far

I's stay away from the vert myself. Heavier, too much body flex, and not as safe to race (not to mention the added you follow a different set of rules when drag racing). But it all really depends if your want a to race the car, show the car, or just cruise the car?

I think I might go with the 87 T-top car, after close inspection that is. Checking to see if the top leaked, how the tracks looks, if rusted or what not. If it were a prob I'd go with the other 87.

Don't let anyone fool you, you can run 12's in a speed density car no prob. Seen it done, so you don't need mass air. But you can add it no prob if you plan on using that monster 347!

Also, I prefer the 87-89 because of the interior styling better. No airbags, no rear shoulder belts (come on I don't think I have used my rear seats for passengers more then twice). You have tilt wheel, etc., etc.

Ultimately its up to you on you personally preference. After looking at the mileage of the cars, who owned them and how they were driven would all be deciding factors in my choice.

Good luck, and sorry about the long post!

HiFlow good post I love the idea of a vert and cruising in it but my biggest peave is any sanctioned track if you run 13.5 or faster with a vert you need at least a 4-point cage. If you ever seen a vert with a 4-point cage it's hideous. Also no tilt sterring wheel is annoying I forgot about that thanks for reminding me.
T-tops I'm totally down for I love them and if they leak I think I'd just deal with it. As far as the MAF, I already did it to my old one so I can just switch.
I think my decision is going to be between the 2 87's. Whatever one I get the best deal on cuz in the end I'm just going to replace evrything anyway.

About they 60's Stangs I don't like the coupes and verts. I'd want a fastback like a Boss or MACH1. Which is starting at 10 in good shape. Plus I got tons of money in Fox stang parts already.

HiFlow I was thinking for this one CHP 393 stroker with a Kenne Bell Blowzilla 2.2 on top.

it's clearly between the GTs, and i think the T-top brings about the perfect blend of cruising and a stiffer body. I can see that living where is snows is a major consideration when thinking about the leak factor. How important is engine miles to you, also which is cleaner? would you consider moving out of the fox bodys, or do you intend to reuse most of your parts? IF you're going to build it up anyways, i'd find the cleanest one with the fewer mechanical flaws, regardless of top - I'd just hope that the t-top is the cleaner and less mechanically flawed.

Well I think I'm going with the 87' GT. It doesn't matter much to be what the motor, paint, Body(rot), tranny. Cause like I said everything will be redone like usual including paint job. So even though I love T-tops the better deal was offered with the 87' GT. The owner is going to trade me the car for the rear-end out of my now ruined mustang. The rear-end has one broken axle but other than that is ok.
His 87' is in fair shape, problems are it's an auto and the tranny slips. But the auto is going buh bye this time! The interior has some wear but overall isn't bad. Biggest problem is the roof is surface rust all over and bubble rust on the hatch. But this is easy to fix it's not rot just surface rust,
So basically I'm getting a decent running Mustang for no money. I told the owner I'd call him later tonight. So if I get it I'll try to get some pics up here so you can see the mess I've bought lol

If I get pics of the new one I'll take some of the wrecked one too. It's a pain in the ass. I don't have a digital camera or a scanner so I'm at the mercy of my friends and borrowing thiers.
