'06 Mazda 3 Oil change

Hey everyone, my name is Tiffany, I own a 2006 Mazda 3, and I am attempting to figure out how to change the oil on my car for the first time by myself. It needs to be done, and I can't afford to take it to the dealership at the moment, so I would greatly appreciate anyone sharing their knowledge with me. Thanx!

Welcome Tiffany!

Good to see another hands-on girl taking matters (and a wrench) into her own hands. Your owner's manual should include information on how to change the oil for your vehicle.

If you are looking for the general basics on oil changes, I recommend: http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/how...8/article.html

Unfortunately, I don't own a 3, so I can't really give you any better details. Best of luck to you! It's a pretty easy job overall, and it's always nice to know that the job was done right (by you)!

Thanx so much! That helps a lot. Yea, that's one thing I'm not afraid of doing...taking care of myself (and my car) by myself. To many women these days depend on men for everything.

Re: '06 Mazda 3 Oil change

Tiffany, Here is a step by step link with photos on how to change Mazda engine oil and filter. It covers both the 2 liter and 2.3 liter engines.
http://mazda3revolution.com/how-to-g...mazda-3-23-20/

You will need access to some tools. You may be able to get by using the factory car jack, you can jack each side enough to place a jackstand, if you have no jack stands a short 2x6 wood block under each front tire should provide wnough room to work. In the link they removed the engine cover, on my 2008 car that isn't necessary, the oil cap in in the left rear on the valve cover just behind the engine cover.

Hope this helps and welcome.

Clifton

Thank you. That really kind of breaks it down for me. I appreciate the help.
