buick regal 2000 radiator leak

When I stop my 2000 regal I get a leak on the passengers side of the motor and after about 2 weeks I have to put some fluid in the overflow. How do I check to see where the leak is coming from. Could it be the overflow leaking?
I do get a light indicating low fluid level.

Reservoir is possible long with other issues. Best thing to do is a close inspection with proper lighting. Can you pinpoint the source of the leak? Check the coolant bypass elbows and area around the water pump.

Re: buick regal 2000 radiator leak

Do you have any puddles of coolant under the engine that you can correlate the leaking to?

The elbows are located as part of the tensioner assembly. See link below. Common to get coolant leaks at these. Other issues causing coolant leaks could be UIM or LIM gaskets, radiator hoses, heater hoses, etc.

The water pump is located at the right side (passenger) where you see the serpentine drive belt since the belt powers the water pump and other accessories.

The leak I am getting is a very slow one. When I park my car on a flat surface the car doesn't leak but when I park the car in my drive way which is at about a 45 degree angle(front of the car higher than the rear) I get a pretty good leak. Does any of this sound familar? If it is the water pump shouldn't I be able to hear a noise coming out of the pump?

We can only go by what you see or have pinpointed so it is best to do a very close inspection to determine the source of the leak.

The water pump can seep coolant out of the weep hole due to a bad seal and not make any telltale noise.
