Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 Kits???

Does anyone make Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 kits??? I saw a Vantage GT2 at Long Beach this year, and would LOVE to make a model of it!

Not in plastic. Maybe in resin.

Wishes are for fishes. Tamiya, Fujimi and Aoshima had to collectively waste resources each making their version of the Nissan GT-R instead of using the resources for other desirable cars.

Get yourself a DBR9 from HERE

It looks about the same, builds well and - most importantly - is available!

Two manufacturer's versions would have been fine, but for all three to kit the same car...that, in my opinion was overkill. My sentiments probably have to do with the fact that I would rather have seen an Aston or new BMW kit over a Nissan any day...the former are the cars I like to build. I'm not ignoring the significance of the GT-R, though.

Re: Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 Kits???

It's also possible that Nissan made the kit licensing fees attractive for the GT-R. While most car makers couldn't care less about if their car gets kitted, I could imagine that for the GT-R that someone in Nissan marketing may have decided that a handful of decent kits would be enthusiastically received by their target demographic.

If Nissan was willing to discount that portion of investment in a new kit of a popular car, it could have been a hard opportunity even for three different kit manufacturers to pass up.

True, good points.

Re: Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 Kits???

Are we sure that this whole licensing thing is the real issue?

I'm not saying that it isn't but on the other hand, I can't truly see Aston Martin wanting more money than, for example, Ferrari or Lamborghini for a licensing fee

I wonder if it doesn't have more to do with the almost "guaranteed" number of kits they can sell with certain Marques. Ferrari is a sure seller, GTRs probably have a wider fan base than AMs in the greater scheme of things.

Seems to me that the some of the kits we wish were available in 1/24 are readily available in 1/43.

Just wondering out loud ...

Re: Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 Kits???

I'm not sure if Aston Martin are into the whole model kit thing.
They've always been a bit peculiar about the products they allow carry their branding and I don't think a mass production, fully licensed kit is their cup of tea.

Re: Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 Kits???

AustinMartin....I had a brain fart...there's no plastic kit for the Vantage V8, but Auto Art does make a 1/18 scale diecast model.

If Auto Art is able to obtain the license for a diecast, then I think the plastic model companies can too. I think the problem has to do with the companies, as Steven (Klutz) says.

They do make a new 1/24th diecast V8 Vantage model. From the pictures it looked good, but its a street version. 1/18th is a toy scale.

Re: Aston Martin V8 Vantage or V8 Vantage GT2 Kits???

I know I saw one on a 1/24th scale forum. The only 1/24th diecast Aston I can find now is the Mondo Motors DB9 street car. I will try to find it. It was showing as a future release.
