Planning a walkabout
I take solo trips every once in a while; just weekend getaways with a tent. I've lived the past 6 years in L.A. and was familiar with the surroundings and where I wanted to visit, but I just moved to Austin TX. I have no idea what is around me.
So, its time to get away. From Austin, I need suggestions in a 4-ish hour radius. I prefer solitude with the option of interaction, so suggesting a theme park or a state fair might not work for me. Connection with nature and roughing it are fine ideas. I like the option of heading into a tiny little town for a beer if I want social input, but I'm just looking for a flood of ideas at this point.

Can't help ya, darlin... Just moved to Murfreesboro, TN and still don't have a damn effing clue where I'm at most of the time as it is.
 I know Northwest gets me to Nashville, and after that I'm toast. LOL
