Cool Tamiya NSX (progress)

Hey all... for a while I been looking for this kit, and then one day POOF, I was over at my dads bosses house for some meeting, (I was dragged there) He was also an avid model collector. The kit I been looking for was on his shelves... it was not the Tamiya Honda NSX, but it was a NSX kit I've never seen before, it has a silver "acura" nsx in the front. My was in awe, because it was still in the plastic shrink wrap. And then one moment later, he handed it to me and said cause my dad said I loved building models and he's seen my work... so now I got a long lost kit wanting to be built.. for free =D

anyways midterms are over for this 19 year old, and its time to venture out to build the basics of the car, cause all my GTRs are on hold because since its raining in San Francisco, I don't want to paint anything to avoid damp paint composure =D

So i started the kit once I got home and in two hours... here is my results...

http://photos.yahoo.com/skylinegtr_hks

Go there and you can see the progress... click on the NSX folder... for ya'll that want to see those Skyline GTRs again, just click on that folder

I finished the engine detail... nothing modifyied... just all in the color it was called for from the kit instructions. Mainly all the engine detail called for was X-11 (flat aluminum) and some gun metal and X-10 (semi gloss black). The under chassis was sprayed with tamiya matt black on saturday when the sun was out... and I let it set for five days =P...

the body, I already sanded and primed... accoring to the wiser folks in the thread, so i decided to go with their recommendations... and i primed it with gray primer from tamiya... now this car is gonna be in Berlina Black.... (gloss black) so yeah, that is about it, imma put the automotive clear just like the two skylines you've seen in my previous posts.

I got a R34 Vsepc in Bayside blue comming, and a R34 Vspec II in Pearl White comming... I'll keep you guys posted

So for now, please enjoy the pictures... and please any NSX builder before, TIPS TIPS TIPS for this newbie please!!!!

All three look very nice, I think the Skyline R32 would look alot better with a painted bonnet though. Could you PM me a picture of the NSX box please? I've been looking for a good Tamiya NSX and I like the look of that one, I don't know if there is more then 1 or not though.

thanks for the support guys =D

Well i know that tamiya did nsx models....

but i think they are now discontinued all of them because I can't seem to find them anywhere...

I know since I build the

HONDA NSX... I know there is one... its a red nsx on the front, it is molded in red, and it has acura and honda decals LHD or RHD

ACURA NSX... I know, because im building one right now, its molded in silver and it has ONLY acura decals only to build LHD, but share common parts so it has RHD parts too...

I uploaded the picture of the box and instructions for you to varify... http://photos.yahoo.com/skylinegtr_hks

go take a look

HONDA NSX TYPE R, These are rare but they do make them... its a white nsx in front.

But I thought i was strange, because all these year crusing around hobby shopps, I've never seen a Silver Boxed "Acura" NSX before... I thought it was only the Honda NSX and in two variations....

But really, I think they discontinued them because it is not shown on the tamiya website anymore, and my hobby shop guy said there is no more from japan... he is pretty reliable source, but hey anything can happen.

lowryda, thanks for the suggestions of the R32, its people like you who crituque my work and tell me other taste, so im not so one side minded =D, hey that is what modeling is all about right? =D open opinions!!!

Once again thanks for all the kind words and i'll keep ya'll posted !

Interesting! I've never seen the 'Acura NSX' before, must have been made for the US market. My guess is that it's only the boxart that's discontinued and that this is the same tooling as the original Honda NSX, which has the Acura options included ie decals and steering wheel.

I have the Tamiya Honda NSX (in the box) And a 50% done Revell Acura NSX. I've never seen the Tamiya Acura NSX before, but by looking at the pics. it's exactly the same as the Honda NSX, just with Acura emblems. Here's mine.

Correct, the Tamiya Acura NSX is just the Honda NSX rebadged for US market shelves. (thanks to jay for the info)

The headlight so flip open and close when you are done, I juss had to close them to do some painting =D

btw I am doing the silver and black two tone =D, I finished the silver part, now I just have to give it a few days before I mask and do the black part of the cockpit exterior area.

I just bought myself a tamiya supra, gonna work on that waiting for the NSX to dry up... as i said before the skyline gtrs are in still in the works =D
