Re: 96 pontiac bonneville not starting all the time.
Sounds like what was happening to me. I had to look under the carpet by the door for a connector, my connection for a wire was off and it prevented some start up for me at some times but would run if it wanted to. If it isn't that wire down there under the carpet it is probably your pcm. My wire blow out my pcm, making me need a new pcm. Any question just ask. I did ask people on here when i had my problem, this is what they told me. That link should bring you to my question.

Re: 96 pontiac bonneville not starting all the time.
When it just makes the click noise is it one click or a bunch of clicks. Can you hear the starter cranking the engine over? If not it is possible that the starter is going bad. Does it enventially start after turning the key to the start position a bunch of times?

Re: 96 pontiac bonneville not starting all the time.
its just one click, and it would start before after trying several times, now it wont start at all. And it sounds like the click is coming from inside the dash on the drivers side. It doesnt even try to turnover nothing just the click.

Re: 96 pontiac bonneville not starting all the time.
First thing to do is find out if here is power to the small wire on the starter while the key is in the crank position. If there is the starter is most likely the problem. If not than other wiring/electrical components before the starter woiuld be the suspect.
