cranks and nothing
2000 GP GT was running good then took off radiator cap before it was fully cooled and got that corner of engine wet. Then would not start. Does it just need to dry out or what other possible things could have happened? What can't get wet on that side of engine? Sensors? Ignition coils? Wires? It cranks and cranks but no fire. Thanks
Oh, also it won't come out of park. I did get it to but don't know how and now its stuck in park still. |

Check and make sure you have spark by removing the plug wires from the coil packs and cranking the motor. You should see sparks jumping across the coil terminals. If you have spark, check for proper fuel pressure. Maybe also try unplugging the MAF sensor and attempting to start the car. Maybe its just a fluke that it happened just as you spilled some coolant.

No. No pressure. I picked up a relay and fuel filter but still shopping around for a pump. Need to have fixed by Monday so any tips would be appreciated. Oh, the not get in gear thing was cuz I wore the battery down trying to get it going when it broke down. Thats not a problem now. Also I need to replace the crankshaft position sensor. What's the easiest way to get the serp. belt off and then the pulley?
Thanks |

![]() Time out. There is no requirement to drop the gas tank to replace the fuel pump in a '97-'03 Grand Prix. There is an access cover in the trunk behind the rear passenger seat. Visit the Tips & Maintenance forum on fuel pump removal. See link below. Fuel Pump Replacement

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=652664 to get the belts off, I usually use a 15mm socket on a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Its usually the easiest tool to get in there that gives enough leverage to put some slack in the tensioner. removing the coolant overflow bottle and placing aside the fuse box also gives more room.

Ok fuel pump went in relatively easy. But I do still have the issue of it being almost impossible to press the button in on the gear shift to get out of park or to put in any gear for that matter. What causes this? How do I fix or bypass? Thanks.
