I recently put a new gear in my 1993 cvpi,i went from a 3.27 to a 3.73 and wow what a difference. It's by far the best mod ive done to it but now my speed0 is off by around 10 mph.Anyone know how i can recalibrate the speedometer?BTW,my odometer doesnt work and I'd love to fix that too,any ideas? Thanks

Look at the mustang forum problem diagnosis. 1999 transmission in a 1995.
They are two links one for an add on that changes speeds. The other a speedometer repair shop.

You may need to change the plastic gear on the end of the speed sensor. Count the teeth on the one you have and see what gear is on the 3:73 car.
There is a small plastic gear on the odometer that is probably stripped. You can remove the speedometer head and check it. It is easily replaced. May be hard to find, but easily replaced.

Where would you suggest buying a plastic gear for the odometer? The Ford dealer I use won't sell them and the speedometer shop charges to reset the odometer where I have done business. The scrapyards only sell clusters in my area.

Re: New gear installed and need to recalibrate speed0

We purchase both the speed sensor gear and the odometer gear from our Ford dealers. Somewhere there is a chart that tells the number of teeth, or the color, on the gear for each gear combination. I won't be back to the shop till Monday, but I will try to find it and post them.
