05 starts then dies,press gas and it runs

05 grandprix 3800, at most 1st starts it dies immediately, but it always start back up, it does not stay started until i press the gas, then it will not die. check engine light not on, it only does it after siting overnight or sitting for a few hours

what could be the problem?

GM has a few tech bulletins out on '04 and up GPs with the drive by wire system. One issue is the sensor at the throttle plate. No longer called a TPS due to the drive by wire. Check out our old posts on what the possible fix may be. We covered many over the past year. Even a simple cleaning of the throttle body may help.

I cleaned the throttle body, problem is gone!
