VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

Well, I got in my first race with the VR4 today.

I was on my way back from visiting some family and a fox body Stang catches up to me on the 4 lane highways. Guy is about 25ish years old and like all fox bodies has an aftermarket exhaust lol. He actually rolls down his window and asks me if I want to do a run. I reply, "sure, whenever your ready." He slows to 50mph so I shift into 3rd ready for him. He takes off and I follow suit quickly putting quite a few car lengths on him by 100...I shut down. He catches me agian and tells me, "good run." I give a friendly thumbs up and then he says, "give me one more chance?" I said, "sure, why?" He comes straight out with it and says let me get the bottle ready. I laughed a little for some reason, maybe because that was the last thing I expected to hear and then said ok. He starts messing around with whatever he was doing in his car and then says he's ready. We start at about 55mph this time. I tell him just to take the first jump agian. He takes off agian and I soon follow. This time, as I go through 3rd gear I can't gain an inch! However, nor could he. As it was literally fender to fender I realized I had to shift into 4th which made me think I would start losing some ground. However, shortly after hitting fourth I started very slowly making ground on him shutting it down at around 125 with approx 1/2 car on him. He pulls up next to me and complimented the car and I did to his. He still had a great big grin on his face even after losing agian as we cruised next to eachother. He ended up slowing down a bit and cruised behind me for another 15 or so miles and then parted ways with a thumbs up.

As of right now, it still all stock except for intake.

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

Don't we all?!

wait... no.

Good run, only thing I can suspect is that he wasn't running a super big shot... and his gearing may not be suited for highway runs. From a dig he might of been a better challenger. Plus, his car isn't as aerodynamic as yours is.

Still... ya run what ya brung, and hope ya brung enough!

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

Nice run man! Feels good to have boost doesn't it?

Now just wait until your boost controller comes. Me and a buddy were messing with his BC on his VR-4 last week...14psi = fun times!

BC fix a lot of problems...

My friend had a Stealth TT RT and was able to take a guy in a STI from a 65 MPH roll and never left 5th gear, or his top gear, all because of the power gains from the BC.

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

Yeah, BC's are by far the best bang for the buck for bpu's on 3/S's. With intake and a BC a TT should be right around 350hp and roughly 340ish lb/ft. And on top of that, STi's don't do terribley well at high speed runs due mostly to their gearing. My 6 speed is geared pretty tall with 2nd gear capable of going to 70mph.

Lol, Cassie, I do feel bad calling it a Rustang though because like I said, the guy was very cool about all of it.

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

still... most fox bodies I see are awful creatures.. like an old taurus with a stigmatism. there are a few awesome ones around, but they have yet to race me.

Boost controllers are sex in a box for the 3/S. The Verfer is crazy spiking at 15-16psi, rips them all loose around a corner.

And in that run what ya brung thing... If I lose, and I "brung" a .38, can I use that instead of a ricer flyby?

Most of the cool five oh owners I know personally call them Rustangs or FiveSlows. I've always found the best way to stay humble and not come across as your stereotypical Mustang/BMW/Porsche/Vette/whatever owner is to make fun of your car. Hell, I call my car a riced out Mazda3, lol.

I'm starting to notice more and more that Mustang driver's are being "cooler". All the local CJTC's are moving to 350Zs and Evos. The STI guys are still pretty cool.

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

Yeah it's nice to have some fun at your car's expense sometimes. I guess the VR4 is just a poor man's Ferrari? Funny thing is, you can come up with something for anyone's car. MZR=Supercharged Cavalier w/ wing, TorchedStealth= supercharged ion with body kit, BeZerk= wanna-be front end of lambo, CassiesMan= riced out Mazda3, -TheStig-= same old heavy pig with hood vents, different Pontiac, etc,etc lol. Kidding to all though.

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

Her name is Sasha.

I just cringe at the word cavalier... But more or less sums it up.

Blue, Blown, and the Bitch (aka me)

You have to be able to make fun of your own car. If you cant, you turn in to a cocky bastard and get bitter over everything. Its proven. Plus, people think your car is slower than it really is

Re: VR4 vs Suprise Stang!

um u should b able to hit the low 14's in the 1/4 mile. i've run 13.6 with the stealth tt. thats got all of 320hp ad 315tq. or are u just not used to the car yet?

my porsche, no name for it. all it is, i couldn't afford a 911 entry level sportscar no better than a 240sx other than the hood emblem. seriously go get a 89 944 turbo and an 89 240sx hatchback...put em next to each other and laugh. but she's my bitch, does wat i want it to.

only thing, porsche design is older. going back to 1972

and how much did jason charge for the boost controller?
