Aftermarket cd player dimmer?

I was wondering if anyone has an aftermarket cd player in their gp that dims when the headlights are on like the factory does. I had best buy put one in and it is designed to dim down like the factory. But when the dimmer is on in the cd player, it doesn't dim down with the headlights like its supposed to. I was getting ready to pull everything apart and see if the genius just didn't wire it right. I knew I should have just done it myself. I just didn't have the tools I needed cause I wasn't at home at the time. If someone's got one that does dim just write back. I would like it to work like its supposed to and would like to know if other's work.

Re: Aftermarket cd player dimmer?

Yea I just pulled it out of the dash and the dumb ass guys didn't wire it up. I've got a Pioneer DEH6900UB. It has the illumination wire from the cd player and the wiring harness has the illumination wire in it as well. They used the one on the wiring harness for the interface for the steering wheel controls but I'm not sure exactly why.

Because them Best Buy guys are idiots. They dont know what they are doing and just do it fast to get it out of there. Free installation always sounds good but you get what you pay for. I once worked on a car because the deck was acting goofy. The owner said he just got it a week ago and Best Buy installed it. Turned out they had kooked the power antenna wire up to the interior lights circuit. Plus everything was all hacked in there and electrical taped together.

Re: Aftermarket cd player dimmer?

Well they did give me free installation on the deck but not on the interface. And I checked everything else and it looked good. The crimped all the wires like I would have done it. But I know they wired the interface incorrectly because when I hooked the illumination wires like they were supposed to be but left the interface connected like they had it, the dimmer worked but not with the headlights. It dimmed when I pressed any button on the right side of the steering wheel. So now I'm talking to the interface company to see how it was supposed to be wired in. Plus I don't like how they programmed it anyway. You think they would have came and got me and asked me about it before they decided how it should have been programmed. That's the first time in like 5 years I've let someone else touch any of my audio stuff and will be the last. I didn't have any of my tools with me at the time or I would have done it myself and wish I would have done it now cause it would have been done right the first time.
