Re: Canada or not?

Does your car have a VIN that starts with a '1' or a '2'? If it's a 2, it's made in Canada, a 1 would be made in the USA (and a 3 would be made in Mexico).

If it is a 2, was the car originally sold in Canada or was it sold in the USA?

If it's a 1 or a 2 sold in USA, get the "except Canada" carb. My best SWAG would be that the difference has to do with emission regulations.

Re: Canada or not?

ill check on that when i get a chance. its in the shop right now getting a new intake gasket, was pulling in hot air. no power at all.

with the carb information settled, are champion reman carbs any good?

the current carb chokes out when the electric choke is plugged in, but idles fine when its unplugged. what sensor would be telling that to happen? or is the electric choke messed up?

"Ways to tell if your GM carb was made in the US or Canada"
#1 It has a Molson XXX label on the side for ID
#2 When you step on the gas the carb says "Eh?!"
#3 Your radio only wants to play such bands as Bachman Turner Overdrive, Rush, Loverboy, or Alanis Morrisette
Seriously though silicon hit it right on the head

Actually, the carb won't say 'eh' when you mash it, it'd say 'Hey hoser, take off!'. Right, eh?
