No power to Fuel Pump after crank

Hello!

The car was working fine before I went on vacation and left it for 2 months.

1.5l 92 eagle summit (mitsu)

OK. 12v to the pump harness at crank (2 secs), pump fine, filters free, these two seconds enough to bring some pressure to fuel rail.

After engine starts no power to FP which means 20 seconds of idle before slow agonizing fuel starvation stall.

energizing the pump with 12v will let it run fine forever.

So... seriously considering setting up some ridiculous switch somewhere near the ignition to power the pump, could be some secret security fandangle! Any problems with this?

Re: No power to Fuel Pump after crank

You probably should find the wiring diagram for the engine controls to determine what drives the fuel pump. If the signals going in to a box are correct but the signals out are not, then you know where your problem lies. You might find the problem is as simple as a dirty or loose ground wire.

Re: No power to Fuel Pump after crank

Most fuel pumps are grounded through an oil pressure switch. So, I would confirm adequate oil pressure, then I would rule out a switch that has failed or lost continuity at the threads.

Of course, you checked things like fuses and fuel pump relay operation? The fuel pump gets voltage from the start circuit during crank, so the fact that its not operating during normal engine running indicates that the normal fuel pump circuit has failed somewhere.
