Audi R8
ive been working on this for a few days now and finally finished it. I am not completely happy with how it came out because of some trouble i had with the tail lights, but other than that the kit was good and really fun to build.

Re: Audi R8
Let me guess, limited funds for modeling equipment? Hey you did a great job. Not many people can build a decent model WITH the right tools, paints, and glues. I'd say you are well on your way.

Re: Audi R8
very nice! Only thing I can really pick on are the black lines above the door...try taking duct tape to create a perimeter around the area before painting, that way you get a nice straight black line

Re: Audi R8
Tamiya for both. Tamiya's clear and tape are in my selection of equipment and work well.

Re: Audi R8
Ingredients for an excellent out of box build:
decent kit, ie., Tamiya VW Karmann Ghia Paint, Tamiya is probably the best available in the world wide market, but I'd say stick with what works best for you. I use mostly Testors enamels, but I know how to use them properly. Toe nail clippers for getting parts off sprues....Just steal a pair out of your mom/wife/girlfriend's pedi/manicure kit. while you're there, get the sanding boards, files, and what ever else you may think would come in handy...or just pilfer it as needed. Brushes, you get what you pay for. I use mostly sable and camel hair but this also depends on what you are painting. Glue, get rid of the testors tube. Use some Ambroid Pro-Weld, or some kind of liquid modeling adhesive/solvent. Some times the testors tube works fine depending on what you are using. C/A (as we refer to here on AF) or super glue is also a needed adhesive, depending on your application...never for glass parts. Hobby knife, Exacto, Excell, I'm sure there are a million different kinds...buy a kit with 3 handles and assortment of blades, you'll likely only use 1 or 2 types of blade regularly #11 and chisel. Get quality, but shop and don't spend a whole lot on it. This should get you going strong. You'll find that you need a tool, you'll improvise with what you have around the house, then you'll eventually go buy a tool specifically for what you need.

Re: Audi R8
The 2003 Nissan Skyline GT-R show's you can obviously build. That's a good start.
Just invest in some good tools and practice the techniques you read about in here (& on the web) and in the magazines. The quality of your work will increase in time. Let's face it, the R8 was very rough, but your GT-R was nice. Let's see you aim high like that again. If you need any help, don't be shy, just ask. There are lot's of good people around here to help when you need. Nenad
