ben hobby models

hey guys! this is to our japanese members!
i just recieved a skyline hardtop 2000 turbo 1/24 from a ebay purchase and was wondering if anyone had any info on the maker.

its made by "ben hobby" and after a quick ebay and google search i couldnt find anything on the company.

on ebay i did find a couple of planes for sale but thats it! nothing on the model that i have.

its in shrink wrap and i a little afraid to open it as i have no idea if its rare or not!

so any ifo that anyone may have will be much appreciated!

i will get some pics up as soon as i can and post them in this thread!

thanks guys!

after some closer inspection (i opened it!, couldnt stop my self!)
the instructions are in both japanese and english, it has a option to make it "motorized" with a small engine, all the paint color schemes are refered to tamiya paints!
it also came with a driver figure and a little honda scooter!

im in the process of taking picks!

Re: ben hobby models

Ben Hobby is a Japanese company that re-released some of the earlier motorized Tamiya kits, the 1/24 Porsche 935 springs to mind.

Re: ben hobby models

Ben Hobby was founded in 1986 by the ex-Hasegawa executive Tsutomu Hasegawa, who parted ways with the company founder. Ben Hobby mainly offered 1/100 aircraft and 1/24 car kits using the molds leased by Tamiya. (BTW, Tamiya and Hasegawa are in-laws.) Most Ben kits are identical to Tamiya's, but the Layton House 962 (reboxed 956) is Ben's unique package. The company had plans to release its own kits, but unfortunately it only lasted for a few years.

thats pretty cool, so would you consider them rare?

the plastic on this model is heavy duty, it blows away the plastic thickness and firmness of any tamiya kit ive seen. (keep in mind ive only seen a few and that they are all very recent releases.)

Re: ben hobby models

Yes, the older Tammies with motors and such were built to play with, so THICK plastic, and limited add on details like mirrors and wipers. They stand up to play better that way.
