Engine noise getting "raspier".
Hey guys. I just recently purchased mt Vibe GT and have about 1500 miles on it. One thing I have noticed is that it seems the engine and exhaust noise seemd to have gotten a bit throat-ier or "rasp-ier" now that the car has been broken in. Has anyone else noticed this?

Nope.
Remember the GT engine is a performance based engine. It was meant to be driven fast and pushed hard. Having a throaty sound comes with the package.

THE VIBE GT IS NOT A SPORTS CAR! THE GTO IS A SPORTS CAR, A CORVETTE IS A SPORTS CAR, THE VIBE IS NOT, I DONT CARE IF THEY PUT GT, SE LT, ITS A LOUD 4 CYLINDER ENGINE LIKE THE REST OF THEM, YOU PROBALY GO 35 MPH AND IT SOUND LIKE YOUR GOING 85 THATS WHY IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS CHOCKING, THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THAT PROBLEM IS GO TO A V6 OR V8 OTHERWISE DONT COMPLAIN! I HAVE A 2003 SILVERADO V6 AND SOUNDS GREAT, AND I ALSO HAVE THE VIBE GT 03, 4 BANGER NICE CAR, EVEN I KNOW ITS NOT A SPORTS PERFORMANCE CAR.

You do realize that the Vibe GT shares its engine and transmission with this, right?
 The Vibe GT may not be a "sports car", but because of its shape, not its engine.

So are you saying that I4 engines cannot be considered sports cars? What are your thots on the WRX and Evo? The Miata is a sports car isn't it? How about the S2000? Don't they (just) have 4-cylinder engines?
This thread has got me thinking and now I am confused. What defines a sports car? The number of cylinders in the engine? the number of doors on the body? Some sort of aerodynamic coefficient? Why is a Corvette a sports car, and a Vibe GT not a sports car? Is an H2 a sports car? Where are the lines that separate an economy car, from a sports car, from a "family car" from a truck to an SUV? By The way, your last few posts made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I am trying to follow along in this discussion, but I admit that you lost me back there.

So let me get this straight. It cannot be considered a sports car if it has less than 350 HP? So I guess the 350Z, S2000 and the Z4 are not sports cars then? They are just wimpy little 2-door cars like the Miata.
Thanks for filling me in.  One more question: Whats the difference between a sports car and a muscle car? Is there even a difference? Thanks in advance.

Are they sports cars? Are they "sport sedans"? Are they just "nice 4-cylinder" four-doors? A Dodge Hemi can put out some pretty impressive numbers as well, but the cornering probably sucks.

Ya, and hes making fun of someone sporting their vibe, and says "pull up to my chevy truck", ya theres a sports car!
Some people just like to hear theirself talk, even if they dont know wtf they are talking about.
