Re: RIP - Funniest Man Ever

Great loss to the comedy world. He opened the doors to much of what we see today from his previous acts pushing the envelope and angering censors at the time. (Who can forget the 7 words you can't say on tv? ) He even had a role in the 2006 movie "Cars" opening up his act to a new generation to enjoy. They just announced over the weekend in our local paper, the Fall lineup at our local War memorial and he was scheduled to perform in November. Was looking forward to that show. I have a bunch of his albums, (yes albums) from the '70s that will have a special place in my collection now.

Look through some of his performances. Surprised he isn't as well known across the pond.

that thought didn't even come to my head, i just assumed we all knew him. there was no name anywhere, so i thought 2.2 was going off the picture when he said he didn't know who it was...

This guy was among the best of the best, who are mostly all now laid to rest. Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks... Even Mitch Hedberg was great, just didn't live long enough to have a big enough career.

here's something from Carlin: "Religion easily has the best bullshit story of all time. Think about it. Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man . . . living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of 10 specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time... But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs your money."

Yep. Rufus in both Bill and Ted movies: "Excellent Adventure" and "Bogus Journey".

One of the roles that I thought was his funniest (and most ironic) was when he played a Catholic Cardinal in the Matt Damon/Ben Affleck movie "Dogma".

Re: RIP - Funniest Man Ever

haha, that was an ironic role. the hitchhiker who taught Jay and Silent Bob the Book of the Road was a short and funny cameo.
