ac compressor

Is it possible to bypass the compressor on a 97 ssei can I buy a small belt and bypass the ac................thank you marsha

Welcome to AF.

Yes you can but it is best to use a bypass pulley kit and use the original serpentine drive belt. See link below.

my compressor locked up. I turned it off the other day went in somewhere for 20 min came back out and my car was dead, all i got was clicking. My ac has been making noise for a while i think it finally went out..............thank you marsha

Thanks for the reply. This is only a short term fix until I can get a compressor. Does anyone have a diagram on how the belt goes to bypass the ac..........thanks marsha

It is the same routing as with the compressor!

Do to the Motor mount, you will not be able to route the Belt to Bypass the Compressor... You will have to yank the compressor and install the Bypass kit...

Only other way is to get a new compressor..
