Basic bolt ons - air filter, CAI and cat back exhaust will net you 15hp MAX, often more like 5-10hp. Start looking at engine swaps, SOHC Civic engines are not known for making prodigous amounts of HP - even when tuned to the balls. Or go SC or Turbo route.

Yeah even w/ the bolt-ons a VTEC single cam will still spank you.

if you want more power look for a motor swap, depends on how much you got to spend. like 3000 for a b16a, like 1000 for a sohc vtec swap

if you wanna stick with that engine i suggest an ex tranny swap, bolt ons, maybe even spray it, youll deff hang with some hooked up cars then nothin big like a camero or anything but youll be right there with the imports

what kind of engine is good to swap b16,b18 or h22. and if i didnt change my tranny from auto to manual , can my auto still win, or they'll just gonna smoke me, cause i cant use my lelf foot, my joint in my foot is weak cause i got a accident,,thats why i cant step in the clutch longer than 5 sec. i know you'll think i suck cause i use auto, my cowork always say im a pussy cause my civic is auto. his car is 240sx non-turbo and he thinks he know's everything in the car, but there's nothing i can do even i wanted to go manual. anywayz thankx for the advise guy's

Auto tranny is a lose/lose situation. You're gonna lose to cars with the same mods if theirs are 5spd. Auto = slushbox.

You're also gonna lose in the long run if you decide to put some more power into it (S/C, turbo, nitrous, etc). Honda auto trannies have a tendancy to fail with high HP due to the heat. You'd have to install a better torque converter and a tranny cooler to start. There is a guy on Hondavision.com that was trying to turbocharge an auto del Sol. He ended up going 5spd even after a cooler and better torque converter.
