Got Laid Off

So i went into work today, and my manager said he wanted a word.

Told me that there isn't a place for me in the workshop, so i'm out of a job. He told me that at the end of the week i'll be given a week's notice. I'm not sure how they figured that there isn't a place for me. i'm one of three competent technicians. i do my job. i turn up everyday on time, i work through lunch most days and stay late everyday working.

I left about half an hour after being told that. took my tools and went home.

What's more stupid is that they employ three fucking monkeys that can't tell their asshole from their earhole. they can barely manage fitting tyres and exhausts. whereas i do a lot of in-depth work, and have my own tools. i deal with customers, help explain things to people on the phone when the guys at the desk can't and generally do a lot more than my job really involves.

My manager told me it's nothing personal. what difference does that make? at the end of the day, i'm still out of a job and still have bills to pay. i'm quite pissed over this and wanted to vent.

Yeah, they probably think that they're better off because the ones who can't do anything are cheap as they don't pay them anything.

What they don't realise is that they can get rid of two of them, and i can do all the work they do.

Their loss, i'll find another job.

Sorry to hear that. I am starting a new job tomorrow. I was working as a driver for a Pepsi franchise and they saw the need to start taking money out of my check for anything they pleased. long story short, the new job will pay alot more and will be more fun. I am sure you will find something better. Just keep your mind open.

Well, that sucks. But, you were looking for a job when you found that one. Chances are, you'll actually end up finding something better.

at your age you're destined to go thru a few jobs before you find the right fit, a passage of sorts. the worst that happened to me when i was young and dumb was when i got fired and later found out it was the manager that was stealing from the company and i was the fall guy.

Man oh man. Had this happen to me around the holidays, fucking pissed me off. They instead kept a bunch of youngin's that knew nothing about eltronics, camerasm etc. (I was at Circuit City)

Oh well, found a $1 more an hour job with better hours to shoot weddings and what not. I'm happy. Took some time though and got me scared.

The number of people who've been out of work longer than 26 weeks rose by 197,000 to 1.55 million.

The unemployment rate for teenagers surged to 18.7% from 15.4%, the largest increase since the data were first collected in 1948.
