Re: Racing Survey

1. What is your preference in racing ¼ miles, domestic
or import, and why?

Answer: It's much easier to go fast down the quarter in a muscle car or domestic like the ZO6 or Viper...but I'll say imports just to be different

2. If import what would be the advantages you believe
it would have over a domestic?

Answer: AWD on the Skyline GTR and 1000HP on stock internals if you are good at proper tuning and fuel management

3. If domestic what would be the advantages you
believe it would have over an import?

Answer: Cheap parts out the wazoo and easily rebuildable

4. What is your preference if racing on a course,
domestic or import, and why?

Answer: Easy...import...

5. If import what would be the advantages you believe
it would have over a domestic?

Answer: Again AWD, but if it was a RWD import...they tend to have better weight distributions...closer to 50:50

6. If domestic what would be the advantages you
believe it would have over an import?

Answer: Eh...the ZO6 rocks the house as does the Viper

7. In your opinion or personal experience which do u
think would excel in straight-aways? Also courses?

Answer: Top end wise...the domestics seem to lose top end HP since their gears are usually setup for quick acceleration not going past 140 mph...so the imports there

Personal Preference Only,

To #1: I will say import. Typically lightwieght, They are capable of being modified to pretty crazy horsepower numbers, and yes, AWD is a friend. However, Domestics can create massive power for cheap and are usually designed to be quick in a straight line. If you are looking from a pure 1/4 mile time perspective...domestic.

To #2: See above
To #4: On a road course I will go with the Imports because of the racing history and current performance capabilities of cars such as the Skyline. But if you are talking strictly any import...c'mon, who's gonna play with a Lambo or Ferrari on a road course.

To #7: Import again. Top Speed imports have typically been able to produce high top speed figures. This is due mostly to the lightwieght nature and high horsepower numbers that they can produce.

Also remember, that you are asking questions without describing the parameters that we have to work with. In comparison, modified imports and domestics have produced roughly the same numbers in quarter mile times as well as road courses. It really all does boil down to a personal preference debate...and those go on forever.

Aomestics.

2. If import what would be the advantages you believe
it would have over a domestic?

3. If domestic what would be the advantages you
believe it would have over an import?
A:No replacement for displacement. Anything you do to a smaller Import motor you can do the same to a big American V-8 and get more. Parts are cheaper. RWD when set-up is the best for 1/4mile launches.

4. What is your preference if racing on a course,
domestic or import, and why?
A:Toss-up

5. If import what would be the advantages you believe
it would have over a domestic?
Lighter, Usually better wieght balance

6. If domestic what would be the advantages you
believe it would have over an import?
HP and accelration

7. In your opinion or personal experience which do u
think would excel in straight-aways? Also courses?
50/50 like someone said it's all opinion
